How about a USMC F-35B or two from MCAS Iwakuni, Japan travel SOUTH? |

It would be nice if some of the USMC assets that frequent Darwin could come south. I still haven't seen a V-22 Osprey. The other Avalon publicity shot shows both F-22 and F-35 so hopefully that isn't more empty promises. I can't see the point (as in this years show) of bringing the F-22 and not flying it. The stories about the display pilot not being available are a poor excuse. Surely any F-22 qualified pilot can do some sort of flying display or they really shouldn't be flying the thing! Even a take off, a touch'n'go and a few circuits would be better than just a static display. As for the A400M leaving before the public flying days what an insult to the Australian public. Avalon really needs to lift its game or it will become nothing more than a trade symposium with no public support. Maybe that's what they want, no more pesty public! |

Australian F-35s at Avalon 25 Jan 2017 Katherine Ziesing | Canberra "ADM [Australian Defence Magazine] understands that both AU-1 and AU-2, the first Australian F-35A JSFs, are planning on making their Avalon debut this year. [How do aircraft 'plan'?] This of course is subject to availability, but it will be the first time locals will be able to see the jets up close on the static line. Both jets are currently working at Luke Air Force Base as part of the international training pool. The ADF currently has four pilots (all instructors) and four maintainers (three RAAF and one CASG) at Luke undergoing training...." http://www.australiandefence.com.au/news/australian-f-35s-at-avalon JPG: http://www.airshow.com.au/airshow2017/images/entry-panels-airshow2017.jpg |
