Not a well known fact is the Russian "intervention of 1918 to 1920" in Arkhangel in northern Russia.

ANZACs Soldiers, waiting shipment to Oz were asked to volunteer into the British Army (ELOPE Force, 45 and 46 Battalions of the Royal Fusiliers). Two VCs were awarded to two Sergeants.

Further next to nothing, is that three Australian Pilots flew there in Russia in the RAF Squadrons based there.

Does anyone have any ideas on "who" were they? Lt R H Derring may be one, since he returned in mid /late 1919, but that is unsubstantiated.

Welcome any input.
