In continuance,
I have updated the related changes per 2A29A Page per 2A29B page per first 25. So far only 4 P-40E/E-1s of these first 25 aircraft transferred ex USAAF 07/03/42 have a researched A29 Number known. On reflection per the actual numbers, one never was accepted or used, P-40E 41-5646, and one assumed the identity of A29-1 (Aka A29-4), and a further one, A29-2, was returned to the 49thPG after repair. So, inconsequence, only 22 came on board and carried a A29 Number painted on the fuselage by 15/03/42,...not 25. With the knowledge of V-1710-39 Numbers, bot FY and Allison MSNs,..attempting to road map the migration of them from March 42 onwards between airframes......yes that is getting anal..IE A29-14 Engine ended up in A29-18's airframe post July 42!! Sigh,..why do i start these things!!! A tenth P-40E-1 ex Mascot, Box # "246" was merely a handy conveyance for Sgt Bailey to fly with the other 9 aircraft on the day. He merely ferried this reserve aircraft on the 7thPS books to Archerfield for the 49thPG. It was still with the 49thPG when it had its first accident at 34 Mile Strip NT on 04/05/42. Piloted by Bob Morrissy "246" was P-40E-1 41-24818 per quoted engine number,..41-36026. As fitted at the CW Factory when boxed. Anyway I rant on. Keep your eye out per a future update for P-40E 41-5308 of the first "10 err 9" Its behind us now,..onwards I says Gordy |
