I am the original FB poster. Thank you for the comprehensive explanation, it is most helpful. If I may ask, what is the source of your data? You obviously have access to some detailed records...

I fully understand you protecting all that research Shep, I was just interested to know if I had missed anything obvious online such as the NAA website. I look forward to future editions of the Telegraph. ^_^

I did not know that you have done all that research. I do hope that one day that you could publish an online book? (eBook) That is what I am currently doing with my 100 years of Qantas. A huge amount of research which has been going on for the past 4 years now.

On a side note, do you happen to have the aircraft that flew with 8SQN at all? I research my great great uncle from time to time who flew with 8SQN. TSV 27/7/1943 to 20/8/1943, then Goodenough 29/8/1943 to 12/5/1944 when he was then posted to 1 OTU as an instructor as WAG. My family and I have paid to get some of the documents digitised, and I have not had the time over the past few years to invest more into the research due to my book.

Brenden,

This is just a quick dirty of my 8SQN codes. Possibly Shep might have more.
Don't forget, get into the 8SQN ORB on line that will have aircraft numbers vs crew names.

The idea of an e-book is good. A mate has done a couple now on FACs, and he did one too on Gallipoli Day One.

Thanks JB.
I have downloaded the ORBS, but for the life of me can't see anywhere the full crew for each aircraft. Unless I am reading it wrong or have missed it. I really started looking into it as he was mentioned in dispatches and was awarded some bronze (oak I think) leaves. I still can't find the word document I made otherwise I would be able to provide some more info.

Brenden,

I expect that you have checked the DVA's nominal rolls

Brenden,

You might want to get your cousins (ie: Next of Kin) to contact the Australian Archive for a copy of your Great Uncles Service records.

You will need full name & service Number.

I did this for my father some years ago and got in return:

* Mobilization Attestation Form
* Attestation Form
*Service & Casualty Form
*Proceedings for Disharge
