Kristen Alexander, who has written biographies of Clive Caldwell and Jack Davenport, has just finished a book on five Australians (Jack Kennedy, Stuart Walch, Des Sheen, John Crossman and Dick Glyde) and one 'adopted' Australian (James Coward) who fought with the RAF in the Battle of Britain. The book is expected to be released in July 2013 but still lacks some photographs. Can anyone help with information on the whereabouts of photos to fill the following needs:
"238 Squadron Hurricanes: May 1940–August 1940 (before they transferred to St Eval) I won’t even dream of a 238 Spit! But I do hope that there is one containing either John Connolly Kennedy or Stuart Crosby Walch 65 Squadron Gladiators or Hurricanes: 19 December 1937–15 May 1940 Either with or without John Connolly Kennedy 46 Squadron Hurricane from September 1940 (or at least just before September) Either with or without John Dallas Crossman 19 Squadron Gauntlets or Spitfires (preferably the latter): Sept 1937–11 November 1939 or Spitfires in the period 27 June 1940–31 August 1940. Either with or without James Baird Coward 151 Squadron Guantlet January 1938–December 1938 or Hurricane December 1938–15 May 1940, before they went to France either with or without Stuart Crosby Walch. Pre or war codes, on the ground or in the air, one or many, it does not matter. As long as there is at least one complete aircraft in the image." Kristen's funds are limited but she can offer in exchange: appropriate photo credit and inclusion in the acknowledgements of Australian Eagles, a complementary signed copy, undying gratitude, and the hope that she might be able to return a favour sometime in the future Any help would be much appreciated Joe |
