In the next issue of AA (Oct 2007) they have reported that
"The first of two Bell 412s about to be delivered to Boeing Australia for its five year Army Aviation training contract is pictured during a test flight at Redcliffe, Queensland, in early September. Leased from Australian Helicopters, Boeing will use the 412s for crash response and loadmaster training at the Army Aviation Training Centre at Oakey in Queensland, roles currently undertaken by the retiring UH-1H Iroquois" Does anyone know the full story ? Seems weird that they lease 2 helicopters to fill the Iroquois role until the NH-90.
Why don't they keep the Iroquois untill such time? Strange. |

I have been advised it is all true...
"Mate, The article is correct, the first sortie should be flown for Loadmaster basic training on the 8th of OCT. Boeing have two contracted aircrewman to act as Crash Response and as supplementary instructors. There are still army aircrewman instructors, these Boeing guys will only supplement not run the training." |

Folks,
I've thrown together a quick and dirty Bell 412 page together at: http://www.adf-serials.com.au/army.htm http://www.adf-serials.com.au/bell412.htm As Martin said, if there is anymore information and/or photos that you can add, please let us know. Cheers Brendan |
