Another mystery photo
Believed to be taken at either Point Cook or Laverton in the 1920s I think it is a D.H.9A behind but the small plane has me stumped. Attached Image  |

It's a de Havilland DH53 Hummingbird, 3 came to Australia in the early 1920s. Mike. :D |

Have we discovered another obscure type to add? From Ed Coates website in referance to de Havilland D.H.53 Humming Bird VH-UAC (ex G-AUAC) "....it was imported for the Australian Department of Defence, Civil Aviation Branch." I wonder if it the one pictured? |

And one for G-AUAD, the third one that came to Australia was C/N 118 but was never registered, sold to Doctor Fenton and ended up with Dr. Coto in Derby, W.A. in 1930s as a wreck which he rebuilt and named 'Icarus' and flew to Perth in 1937, see Flypast book for more info.
