Hi There

Just advising that the page has been reviewed and updated per latest research findings. Inclusive all originally installed Allison V-1710-39s as installed in the airframes as boxed and sent. That information was originally supplied by Buz and in document form kindly supplied by Geoffrey Sinclair. It is greatly appreciated.

Also, in light of obtaining USAF AHRA Microfilm rolls in PDf form relating to Aircraft Status in USAFIA (United States Army in Australia) there is one airframe FY Serial correction. P-40E 41-5594, ex Archerfield was really P-40E 41-5574. What's nice is that I possess a picture of this aircraft marked at the Factory with its CW#594.

Also coming to light, is that there was two A29-1's: One E/E-88 Carded as, following its demise, 07/03/42 and destroyed in a crash, taking the life of the pilot, and another, one painted as such, in Townsville that was damaged, but repairable. The latter assumed the E/E-88 Carded History on that card post (A29-1) post May 1942.

It also highlighted that an original Mascot P-40E, 41-5646, was not flown up that day, and in lieu, the pilot was borrowed to ferry a USAAF P-40E-1 to Archerfield so as to accompany those first 9. not 10 P-40E/E-1s to that destination. P-40E 41-5646 would later be located as a wreck, held at Canberra RAAF Station in April 1942. Pending removal to 5AD Wagga with other airframes.

Now to start on 2A29B File hereon.

Cheers
Gordy

Merely the result of several keen and shovel equipped researchers, Shep, along with some great assistance from Buz and Geoffrey per data streams and Official Period Documents. Also, without doubt, I cannot state the importance of Anthony Koch's role (2OTU Historian) in finally piecing together the A29-1 saga per teh Coroner's Report 28/03/42, along with the AWM Holdings of a Diary of a ex 24Sqn RAAF Airman who kept an early 75Sqn RAAF Diary. All flows into the pot and this is the humble cake that was presented. "There were two A29-1s",...saying without doubt, A29-1 Carded by 1AD that impacted and burned 07/03/42 and one P-40E/E-1 that was painted as A29-1 that had an accident but was erroneously 1AD carded as A29-4 after its accident. When it arrived at 5AD to be rebuilt, it assumed , as painted, the 1AD E/E-88 card history thereon. Now to action the other 160 plus P-40E/E-1s after this 18 month delay caused by this research. Cheers Big Ears, Gordy :)
