Sad to read that due to severe corrosion Dakota N2-90 is being dismantled for spares.
Looking at our listing we have two different construction numbers listed. Can this be explained? http://www.adf-serials.com.au/n2.htm |

Martin
This aircraft is one of that bunch that were issued with duplicated serials necessitating the issue of a new c/n. Air-Britain quote the c/n as 16135/32883. Any more info on the aeroplane being parted out? Regards Ron |

The correct c/n is 32883. The duplicate c/n is 16135.
All the affected aircraft are C-47-DK that were built at the Oklahoma City plant. Cheers |

Folks
Here is a facsimile of the Douglas service bulletin listing the duplicated serials. Source: "The Douglas Commercial Story" Air-Britain 1971 (IMG:http://www.adastron.com/aviation/vault/DC-3-Duplicated-Serials.jpg) It is common to quote both numbers on the presumption that not all of these aircraft were fitted with corrected data plates. |
