Hi All,
Just a quick but signifigant update today. Former RNZAF Corsair NZ5612 took to the air for the first time since 1945 on the 6th of February this year as N43FG. Here is our history of this aircraft: NZ5612 2904 FG-1D 88090 Shipped from USA on 29 April 1945 aboard "USS Benjamin William". Assembled at Corsair Assembly Unit, Los Negros and BOC Los Negros on 15 June 1945. To No.17 Squadron, Los Negros on 25 July 1945. With No.14 Squadron July-August 1945. Ferried to New Zealand September-October 1945. Ferried to Aircraft Storage Unit, Rukuhia in October 1945. Advertised for sale by WARB tender number 9207 dated 09 May 1949 and sold from Rukuhia to J. Asplin on 26 May 1949. Rescued from Rukuhia aircraft graveyard and transported to Auckland in 1972. To Ross Jowitt in Auckland along with parts from NZ5503 and NZ5527. 2007 To Barry.G.Avent Bennetsville, SC for restoration. 20/06/2012 Registered N43FG with serial BA45FG-1 to Barry Avent, 06/02/2014 First post restoration flight by Eliot Cross at Cheraw Municipal Airport, SC.
