F-111 At Wanaka

Just back from NZ where I spent three solid days at the Warbirds Over Wanaka Air Show. The Kiwis certainly know how to put a show on - puts ours in the shade. Where else in the world do you get a range of aircraft from a Caudron 11 to C-17 including WW2 fighters from the US, UK (including a Hurricane that fought in the Battles of France, Britain and Russia!), and Russia, mixed formations of jets including two Vampires, and some great performances by Bell 47s and Iroquois amongst others.

RAAF participation was C-117 (except Saturday when it couldn't get down through the clouds) and F-111. The much anticipated Caribou did'nt make it this time. Both participants put on a great performance with many spectators dripping nostalgia about the days of their own jets.

The C-17 was '207' but does anyone know which F-111 made the trip over?

If you have the chance - go in 2010 - or even to Omaka in 2009.
