G'day all,

we have had a request for further information on Pilot Officer John Syme from his cousin;




Final Mission

Took off from East Kirkby at 0031 hrs on 3rd December 1943 for operations in Leipzig. Crashed at Volgfelde, south of the railway line between Gardelegen and Stendal - sopme 4km NE of Uchtspringe.

ED920 (LE-D) was a Mk III Lancaster crewed by the following:-

We have confirmed via a letter recieved from John Syme his service number. One of our team Alan Chambers also discovered he was previously with 9 Sqn RAF prior to 630 Sqn. He was buried in Germany and the Commonwealth War grave commission website doesnt have the grave location.
