Thought I'd share these B & W Album pics

SASR Training on rappelling on good old Indian hemp lines. Nothing synthetic in them old days!

I always thought that the RAAF egg beaters were too scared to land on a hostile LZ so alternative ways were invented to land them 10 ks away. LOL

Again, on extraction take off after a hike of 15ks to a safe LZ pickup point.

A third prequel shot, noting no trees to tangle with the rotor blades of A2-507.

Mind you, you'd feel rather exposed from the Super Grunt point of view, but the chopper survives another day to drop off the poppies on the next.

LOL

That's the air force for you!

If these pics are in the late '60s (A2-505 to -510 delivered in Feb 1968), they are in UH-1D configuration. They were later upgraded to UH-1Hs with the engine change from the T53-L-11 to the -L-13.
