The Royal Australian Navy selected Spanish shipbuilder Navantia as preferred tender to construct two auxiliary oiler and replenishment (AOR) vessels.
These two new replenishment ships will be based on the Spanish Navy's 19,800-ton SPS Cantabria class vessel, which deployed with the Royal Australian Navy in 2013. Not on the Defence Website,..again found out by overseas site!!!!! Amazing,..thought the Koreans had it Gordy |

Strange bedfellows, err , Spain and Australia these days.
Navy wise, we have now near to four,..five if we count the 12 new Landing Craft, the same types (LPH, AWD, FFG-7s, and the Cantabria class vessels) that are or will sail with both Navies,.... Add in all services aircraft , another 5 aircraft types(CH-47D, NH90s, ARH Tigre, F/A-18, S-70 Navy series) Here our Naval Industry has been dying on the vine in the valley of death over the last ten, and yet their shipping industry is growing or being maintained by our orders over the last five years. Makes one ask,.."why is that?" and "why is this one way trade" Hope they buy some of our stuff (just to shut people like me and 25% of aging old barts and tarts of the other 23,000,000 breathing Aussies) The Aussie Built Bushranger PMV or Hawkei "Baby" PMV would be a good start Would have been good if they got us to assemble their NH-90s and ARHs, or even given Mates rates on the two KC-30A(Preloved) conversions. Simply amazing the stuff that passes by and goes un-noticed by the public. Sigh,.. Gordy  |
