Bundaberg air show to re-enact Vietnam War experiences
Posted August 3, 2007 09:13:00
Visitors to Bundaberg's third biennial air show, in south-east Queensland, will be taken back to Vietnam in the 1960s and early '70s as part of a wartime re-enactment this weekend.

Air show managing director Lyn Leadbetter says they have been planning the re-enactment for two years and pyrotechnics have been working on the 45 minute display full-time for the past six months.

Ms Leadbetter says Vietnam veterans will be flying the aircraft as part of the tribute to returned servicemen and women.

"We'll start on the ground in a ground battle and culminate in an air attack," she said.

"We're going to blow up a lot of things, it will be very exciting and, as I said, it is a tribute to the bravery of our soldiers - Keith Payne VC [Victoria Cross] will be in attendance along with a lot of Vietnam veterans."
