From another website:
http://rnzaf.proboards43.com/index.cgi?act...ead=7297&page=1

"To save any speculation I e-mailed the RAAF and asked if the Defence force airshow was to be the last Full Public Flying display for the F-111 and at the moment it is although their will be a few other flypasts cheers."

'Thank you for contacting RAAF Inquiries, at the moment there are no more public displays planned for the F-111 aircraft, although there are flypasts planned such as 25 - 26 October, Lexmark Indy, Surfers Paradise, and 26 January 2009, Australia Day, Brisbane.'

Ah postscript 04-10-08 Show,..reflections of the first day

I was a little mislead by the comments tonight on the box saying that it was the best airshow ever.

After my day there today, I have to report that the RAAF was a little thin on the ground and in the air

No Caribou, either on the ground or in the air. (Must be a first in 44 years!)
No C-17A Flying, the promised USAF didn't come. There maybe a RAAF C-17A up tomorrow.

The Army was missing the Chook, but the Ghan deployment may have been responsible for that one.

But no MRH-90 either on the ground or in the air

There was a ARH there, but no flying.

Vintage Aircraft were down on regular types, as there was no Spitfire or Wirraway this year. Understandable I guess due the high costs of fuel or recent changes of ownerships.

But no Tiger Moth to be seen

But we got to see and hear that ear grumbling noise of the Meteor, which would send any card carrying North Korean into a cold sweat.

All in all it was a good "air"show and no doubt the star was the Pig and F/A-18 in the noise stakes and flights of fancy.

Don't get me wrong, I was wrapped, but I have to say, it wasn't the best in terms of types or displays. That is still held by the 1988 Show, slightly being nudged by 2004

Guess it highlights the number of retirees since then 1988 and 2004; B707, Machi, Nomad, Winjeels, SeaSprite and the like.

Saw only one VIP type, the B737BJ in the morning. Seahawk stayed on the ground as did the black Augusta.

Guess we'll have to wait until 2012 for the next one

As for the Airshow vendor, I've learnt to heed the efforts to make us by their tickets on line as I was sure sorry after the first hour of waiting to get in. The next 30 mins just went in a lineal daz "in line with the rest of us ticketless idiots" :(

They still need to set up photo oportubity access for aircraft sans people, much like the Roulettes and the other Temora aircraft,..Good stuff.

Loved talking to the Yanks there,...they're not like TV. Thy're good young lads doing they're jobs. God Bless them. Shame the F-15Cs (Ah 1988)didn't get up or even a MC-130E display in Low low low

The RSAF F-16D was real nice

Had also a shock,.... a "Powder Puff" is flying a 76 Sqn RAAF Hawk!!!

There's a Army Captain, the only one, whose past the screening(out of four applicants) to fly the BAE Hawk!

Bit of heads up LCD FBW training for the forthcoming ARH Tigers to ease transiting.

Interesting stuff.

Lots of F-111Gs around, including A8-506 (in the big Fridge), A8-272 and A8-274, and the odd "C" as you would expect, with A8-148 displayed with a AGM-142, and A8-126 up in the air

Tommorrow is day two

Best
Gordy

The final postscript of today's 05-10-08 Show, from the boundary, rather inside today.

The trip out yesterday seemed an advertisement for taking up jogging and orientation, so as to cross the airstrip to get to Ipswich through the back way.

That aside, I enjoyed my conversations with my sons, sitting parked on the asphate, as you can learn alot in over an hour, even though all were tired.

Enjoyed watching a QLD Police motorcylist go back and forth along the base ring road. I wondered the obvious as to why he was not directing traffic and figured he was just as hot as we and wanted the cool air over his face.

Some bright orange SES overalled person pointed to us,and said, come this way, it'll be quick. Thus after transversing a field and a few dirt roads we got out of the area, albeit with only a few survivors of the blocked traffic. God bless them (SES), as the rest of the carpark stayed behind for the next two hours. 1 hour 15 mins later, we were home

Today we were smart and were $35.00 ahead, having worn out the camera on the statics yesterday. Needless to say, today was all about the AIR Show,..raising the eyes skyward.

Therefore, my sons stayed home along with another 20000 people due to the long delays of getting to and fro. (Apparently only 14000 or so turned up "inside" today I'm told)

The Propaganda of the media on great traffic management seemed wasted on these people

Ah that brings us back to today

My neighbour said he knew a secret place to view the birds coming and going in the airshow. To my surprise, it was 15 mins to there, and after the aerials, it was 15 mins back to home.

We saw it all, under the shade of a tree, fronting a pasture, under the flightpath.

Sure I missed the ground displays, but man oh man, were the fly overs great.

Yes, today they got up not one but two C-17As! One Aussie and one Hawiian based USAF
Ah,....the solo F/A-18A pilot, did things I didn't know could be done, cork screwing to a near stall and then a High AOA, flatterning and wosh, he was off.

Loved the Hudson and the Meteor

It was beyond love for the PIG today. The display was "brilliant" as yesterday, including again that touch and go, down and dirty torch lift off. I've never seen it before, aside from yesterday.

As old man said in Movie Babe, "That'l do Pig, that'll do". :D

Till 2012

Best
Gordy

I was working on the Saturday, the C17 was broken thats why there was no flying display on the Saturday. How good was that solo F18 pilot, was great to watch! Had a chuckle to myself when the news said it was a look at the new super hornets capability and something to look forward to, guess they dont know the diffrence between the pair  I would have thought that the fact that Australia dont have them yet would have been a bit of a give away. I agree warhawk it was a bit thin on the ground with static displays, still worth it none the less.
