I have been reverse order researching and updating 2A29 File, currently going backwards from A29-1221 to reach my defined finish line of A29-400 within the next month,...or three. What was interesting was that a P-40N-40 Kittyhawk seemed to have been transferred to the RAN "officially" ex RAAF Point Cook Store on the 10th December 1949. Approval was the year before on the 3rd December 1948, well after the creation of the RANFAA. It may have been a target, or used in a RAN underwater Rescue exercise. Does anyone have any clue to its use/fate? I know of the A58 Spitfires, but this is new to me,..and its location,. Victoria has me intrigued. The Aircraft was used by 84 Sqn, later 76 Sqn (SV-Z) and then even later CFS up to early 1946. The Aircraft is P-40N-40 A29-1196 The profile is a bogus one I did up,.......just to see a "NAVY" side name painted on a flaming P-40N,..."what next?" Gordy Attached Image |
