Amen, that'll be the day.

Though there are numerous buried by "sky and earth convergence" following the ending of powered flight, out there, or off the coast.

Time will tell, though corrosion will win in the end before discovery in most cases.

As an aside.....

Did you know that the Spitfire that hangs from the ceiling at the AWN in Canberra a Mark11a serial No P7393, was flown by then P/O Bluey Truscott of 452Sqdn RAAF, on the 9th August 1941. It was flown on the day on Circus 68, escorting a force of Blenheim bombers to a target in France. This was also the operation that the famous legless ace Douglas Bader was shot down on and became a POW. Truscott of course went onto to become a well known Australian ace. Circus 68 was dissapointing in that more Spitfires were lost to friendly fire than the enemy.

Amen Dave,...

Built at CBAF as c/n492 and was coded UD-N when with 452Sqn RAAF. Damaged when UD-N hit a obstruction in sweep over France, then forced landing at Predannack on return 9th August 41. Class CE 28/09/41.Issued to Australia 23/02/45 for AWM. Had served with 222 Sqn & 313 (Czech) Sqn RAF after repair then OTUs.

Truscott made his first kill the month before, but got one of five ME109s that day on the 9th August 41
