Today is the 70th anniversary of the Dams Raid by 617 Sqd in 1943. One of the pilots and one of the bomb aimers who flew on the operation are still with us today. Namely Les Munro (Pilot) RNZAF and George Johnson(Bombaimer). See the link below. Brave men indeed, who now live in a world that is vastly different to the one they inhabited all those years ago.

Great piece of film.

Looks hard enough in daylight and no one shooting back.

Did Peter Jackson ever get anywhere with his movie??

Apparently the film is still going ahead :D He has had 11 full size plastic lancasters made in China, yes you did hear right...plastic and made in China, delivered to NZ for airfield settings etc. His Lord of the rings film has put things on the back burner for a while. Also there was the problem of Guy Gibsons dog "Nigger". People would have been offended by this name, so it has been renamed " Nigsy" a term that Gibson often used for his dog. So yes, it is still happening.

Is that a real or plastic Steven Fry?

And a plastic Whimpey too (under the world's biggest Airfic Lanc)?

Peter Jackson certainly knows how to pull out al the stops in acheiving realism!

:D
