HJere is another very good book to read. Story of Douglas Baders last operation in 1941. As we know he was brought down in his Spitfire over St Omer in France in August, 1941. The book provides conclusive evidence that he was in fact shot down by another Spitfire flown by Lionel "Buck" Casson who was shortly after and on the same op shot down by a Luftwaffe ME-109. Very good book. Just as an aside to this, the Spitfire Mk11A that is now on display at the AWM Canberra was flown on "Circus 68" on the 9 August 1941 by F/Lt Bluey Truscott of 457 Sqdn RAAF, the very same operation in which Bader was brought down. The Spit has not been repainted since WW2 save for the Sqdn codes. It now bears the markings of the Central Gunnery School RAF.
