Has anyone seen a copy of an RAAF record card for Walrus L2327? Some years ago while researching Seagull V and Walrus aircraft I couldn't find a card for this airframe in RAAF Records but the following were found:
A pencilled annotation 'L2327' on the first ORB Sheet for HMAS AUSTRALIA Flight on 2 Jan 42. 27.2.42. 9 Sqn ORB report that L2327 had struck the side of HMAS AUSTRALIA and Fg Off Rowan had been killed. 26.3.43. "...investigation by the Rear Admiral Commanding the ANZAC Squadron into the loss of Walrus aircraft no L2327 and its pilot on 19 February 1942, indicates that the pilot was rendered unconscious when the aircraft struck the water due to the waist safety belt allowing his head to strike the instrument panel and so prevent his escape before the aircraft sank." (A-A705/1 9/5/261 Minute 22). Nothing else found. The website has no further information If anyone has a copy of a card, I would welcome a scan or even a transcript. Thanks Joe |

Thanks Gordy.
I had passed the above information to Ray Sturtivant when he was writing Air Britain's 'Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939 to 1945' but was unable to trace any other record of the aircraft's previous RN history so we have no idea where it might have come from. Cheers Joe |

Sorry. Should have added that the observer was Sub Lieutenant G.H. Jackson, RAN who survived together with an unnamed Telegraphist Air Gunner.
