Following text received via e-mail as is. I'm guessing the e-mail was informing No.9 Squadron members?

Subject: Bereavement George Mason Walruss pilot
Recipient Group:

"Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have received the following sad news from Gary McFarlane:

Regretfully I must inform you that George Mason passed away in his sleep last thursday night, aged 90.

He will be privately cremated later this week.

George was the last surviving Walrus pilot from 9 Sqn. Later in WW2 he flew Catalinas then Martin Mariner flying boats.

Last year on behalf of the Australian War Memorial, Al Bridges interviewed him for an oral history of his service.

George will be privately cremated next thursday.

He was a real gentleman and will be sadly missed by all his comrades at Rose Bay RSL.

Gary McFarlane"

Thanks Luig.

George's name rings a bell. I believe I met him several years ago now at an Anzac day march when I had flown down to Sydney. If that is the gentleman he must have been in his early 80s then.

Gone but not forgotten.

Gordon
