Does anyone have any record of this aeroplane being rebuilt after an accident (possibly a heavy landing)? The Queensland Air Museum has recently acquired a Porter nose section (to just aft of the cockpit) and its data plate carries the c/n 731. This equates to A14-705 but this aircraft is current in Germany as D-FREE. I'm assuming that the Army acquired a new forward fuselage from Pilatus to complete a rebuild with the aircraft retaining its original c/n. Any info will be much appreciated.

Don't have records to hand - but I seem to remember there was a change of serial numbers of the early 700 series Porters ??

The last 4 aircraft were going to be A14-725, 729, 730 & 731 as per their c/ns but they were changed to 702, 703, 704 & 705 to avoid clashes with Bell Sioux serials. What I am looking for is an accident involving 705. None is recorded in any of the usual references. Regards |
