Gordy,
Our website has this, but I havnt been able to find anything more than stated. "An unknown Piper Cub appears to have been trialed by the RAAF. An aircraft status card says that one was loaned to the RAAF from the USAAC starting 30/05/44." Darren |

RAAF Rescue and Communications Flight started in New Guinea mid 1942. and by Aug 42 had (as I have it) two US Piper Cubs on loan, along with five US pilots. RAAF S Ldr Pentland was in command.
Sometime during his service in New Guinea Pentland stashed away a Piper Cub in a hangar at Nadzab. After the war, as a civilian, he tried to claim it for personal use, but the RAAF woke to this and prevented reclamation. I wonder if this was anything to do with the query on Piper Cub. Cheers, Wynnum. |

That's the Cub, Gordy! Have you got everything in those archives of yours?
Pity the serial is unreadable - is there any caption? Joe . |
