I have just heard from a very good source that HARS is negotiating with the Govt to buy B707 A20-623 as an airworthy aircraft. Apparently the engines have been taken off it and are being refurbished. Anyone else heard anything on this?

Sorry Dave, I have to correct you on one point. The engines are no longer NOT on the aircraft. lol.
Yes, the engines were removed but have since been re-installed back on it. But hell...that would make one hell of a warbird though. Interesting news Dave. Thanks. This post has been edited by Dean on Aug 26 2007, 11:01 PM |

It's cheaper than repainting it!

Gents
I'm led to believe that A20-623 has been sold to Omega Air in the USA. Probably, the aeroplane was sold without engines, as was the case with 261. Regards |

I suspected that might be the case... we can only hope one is retained in OZ in some way and if Hars wants to fly one then go for it!

There was rumour that they were going to get a 707 for a while.
Following the Qantas Connie theme. Does anyone who if Albion Park airport (HARS base - Sth of Sydney) can handle a 707 ? Greg |

Google Earth Albion Park airfield overhead graphic shows that the main North South runway is only 5,400 odd feet. Perhaps not enough for a heavy 707? Don't know if a lightly fueled version would be suitable?

Further to my prev comments.
I heard a rumour that the new hangar was capable of housing a B707. I expect that they could load a light fuel load and refuel at either, Sydney KSC or Nowra. Greg |
