A question was asked over on the “other” site regarding 10CU Ansons and if the images of one of their machines in an AWM series (including OG2198, OG2200 and OG2201) could be identified.

Evidently the questioner didn’t feel inclined to pay the extortionate fee to the AWM for a “hi-res” copy of any of the images which may or may not have been any clearer than the lo-res versions. A reasonable position to take.

The questioner further stated that the adf-serials site didn’t help.

I had a quick look at the adf-serials listings for Anson aircraft and my search revealed 7 “hits” for 10CU operated Ansons. According to the adf-serials listings (which may or may not be comprehensive) those machines were:

R3525 from 06OCT44 to 11FEB45 (to 2AOS)
W1559 20OCT44-05FEB45 (2AOS)
W2037 16OCT44-03FEB45 (2AOS)
W2529 17OCT44-11FEB45 (2AOS)
AW868 16OCT44-20MAY45 (12LASU)
AX425 15OCT44-13JAN45 (5CU), and
DG934 21OCT44-11FEB45 (2AOS).

Looking at the captions for those lo-res images on the AWM site showed that they were taken on 25JAN45 and the pilot was FSGT Burrows (432203). Bear in mind though, that AWM captions can be inaccurate.

I followed this by downloading the Unit History Sheets for 10CU from the NAA. Looking through to 10CU for January 1945 showed an entry in their A50 dated 25/1/45 (p785 of 904 in the downloaded pdf) which read (in part), “25/1/45 F/Sgt. BURROWS in Anson AW.868 …”

AW868 was one of the 7 Ansons shown in the adf-serials list as being 10CU machines and it confirms FSGT Burrows, named in the AWM photo captions as being the pilot of the aircraft, as being its captain.

So, given that small accumulation of information, I think it is reasonable to conclude that those images are of AW868.

Edit:
I see that the question has already been answered "over there".
Never mind, it is here now in case anyone is interested.
