I have decided to pass onto the ADF Serials Team the sincerest thanks of Mr Douglas Mackrill and family whom I spoke with last week. Doug's brother Ian was one of four men killed in the crash of a C-47 Dakota at RMC Duntroon on 19 Mar 1957.

On Friday 16 Mar 07 ADF Serials received a request from Chaplain Dean Griffiths for information about the location of the crash site regarding this aircraft so that Doug and his family could hold a small service marking the 50th anniversary of the loss of Doug's Brother, Sgt Ian Mackrill, that was to occur on the coming Monday. The information was passed onto Chaplain Griffiths that evening and the site was quickly located, having been previously thought to have been on a sports oval.

Having travelled up from Victoria for the occassion it was something very personal to him and he wanted to express his thanks and appreciation to ADF Serials for our assistance.

So I pass this message on to you all on behalf of Douglas Mackrill.

Dean
(This is what I love about this type of work).

I concur your sentiments Dean, well done.

Chaplin Dean Griffiths was of enormous help when I organised the memorial for A65-106 near Pearce. Please give him my best regards.
