I am trying to trace records of my grandfather, who flew 504K Serial No. 3747 in the peace loan flights in Queensland. I have photos of him at Point Cook and various photos of him flying around Queensland. I believe he crashed in or near Gympie approximately in 1920. Can you provide anymore accurate information about who flew this plane? I am also happy to share copies of the photos in my possession. Looking forward to hearing from you, Andrew Kaye. |

We put this in the A3 entry when we recently updated the 504: E3747 Departed England 24/12/18 on SS Berrima, arrived Melbourne 02/19, Received CFS ARS 25/04/19. Used on CFS First Peace Loan 26/08/19 to 1 Military District (QLD), Crashed 17/09/19 at Gympie Qld (crew Capt F R Smith and AM F C Campbell). To CFS ARS 14/10/19. To AAC 08/01/20, Struck off AAC charge 08/04/20. A replica of E3747 is on static display at the RAAF Museum Point Cook. There is also a good photo of the aircraft there, in QLD during the Peace Loan and before its crash. John B |
