PHILIPPINES WANTS AUS IROQUOIS:
The Philippines government has requested Australia donate 12 ex Army UH-1H Iroquois to it to help with its fight again Maoist and Muslim rebels in the south of the country. A Reuters report quoting an Australian embassy official in Manila claims that a decision on the request, as well as other proposals for the 37 stored helicopters, will be made the end of the year. With only 12 currently in flying condition, these could possibly go to the Philippines while other aircraft may be offered to RSLs, memorials and other interested parties. Any transfer to the Philippines would require US government approval. http://www.ausaviation.com.au/aaexpress.htm#b |

Will the Australian Gov't donate them?
No. I don't believe it will because it will be seen as though Australia is actively supporting Malaysia in the struggle with the insurgents. |
