and here is the only images of WZ943 I can currently locate.

Each of the owners has a CD of the images we took this day anyway.
This is the worst (and best in some ways) of the two aircraft...

You cant see it in this images but the Cockpit/Forward Fuselage is missing!
It is useful in that the remains have parts useful for the other one and spares etc.

Darren, don't you know planes CAN fly with their wings folded. I have seen numerous photos. Amazing stuff.

Darren,I've got three of WZ-943, but they are to big to load as an attachment. I have sent them through to you and Brendan on your adf-serials e mail.

WZ943 is one of the very rare "open cockpit" Venoms. It's stealthy design makes it difficult to see.

I can remember HDH bringing aircraft up to Richmond on a low loader, after they had beeen through a major inspection.

Looked like brand new, and the civilian teco's used to put a asbestos blanket over the tail boom, so the new paint would not get too hot.

I never understood why they flew them out of Richmond nack to Nowra, perhaps Bankstown strip was not good enough.

Must have done good job, because they either carried any C O S back to Nowra, or just did not have any problems.

I do believe that they had some problems with spares in storage, where the detoration of some air frame parts made them unfit for use.

Regards

Col

Grampaw Pettibone and his safety/accident stories have long been a feature of USN aviation magazines. Here is an example of the “flying with folded wings phenomenon” by a Corsair pilot.

Darren, Good to know. Seems that HARS will be a good place for them to be repaired. Will they go on exhibition there? Good fortune to the restoration team.
