Way back in August 1985 or 86, I was in the AIRTC on a GST camp at RAAF East Sale. As always, we got a ride in one of the HS-748's, but this particular year we were lucky enough to go for a ride in a UH-1. The particular one I got to fly in had floats. Can anyone shed any light as to how many UH-1's were fitted with floats, any photos, serial nos., or any other information? I think it would make a unique modelling project for the 1/48 kit hiding in my cupboard....

Thanks in advance

Damien

Ain't been in a Chinook, although I've been buzzed by one.....the same day I got to fly in a Winjeel with a serious hangover (me, not the plane)....if [when] you do get lucky, make sure the doors are open and you grab a seat on one of the sides...unless, of course, you get offered the other pilots' seat :P

Damien,
In Stewart Wilson's book on the Vampire, Macchi and Iroquois there is a pic of A2-508 with floats, caption says on trials for oil rig protection work. that is probably why it was at Sale for the rigs in Bass Straight, A2-487 was also fitted out the same.
