Ages ago (1977) I bought the log books of FSGT Burton Hampton Elliot 427234 from a second hand bookshop in Perth.

During a garage clean up yesterday I re-found them and realised that they contain all sorts of good info.

Elliot started pilot training in Feb 1943 only to be scrubbed in May with 78:50 hrs.

He went on to become a Nav and eventually did 10 successful Ops in Europe on Lancs.

He was killed on the 11th Op when the aircraft crashed on the way to the target 02Feb45.

The pilot's log book is a bit beaten up but readable. The nav log book is in quite good shape.

I am more than happy to loan them out to the team, could anyone use them?

Grahame

To fill in the blanks a bit he was serving with 476 Sqn and his aircraft was Lancaster Mk 1 LM100 (PD-D). He was on a mission as apart of a crew of 7 (6 RAAF and 1 RAF) to Karlsruhe. On the return journey the inner starboard engine failed and it was feathered. Very soon afterwards the remaining engines failed and the order was given to abandon the aircraft. However only Fsgt J.C. Jarrett was able to make good his escape reportedly from only 700 ft. He was the only survivor. The aircraft came down near to Ardennes about 2245 hrs.

LM100 was one of three aircraft shot down that night from 463/467 Sqn.

I could do that, it depends on who is interested. If it's only Dean he may as well have the real thing.

I'd be interested too.

Also Dean I think the code should be PO-D, there was no PD Lanc code for 467 or 463 Sqn. My info has them crashing on the way in to the target too. Do you have a crew list?
