Just thought to let you know that canberra 242 is in the historical hanger for a makeover to bring her to static display standard. Great to see seeing that she is an old 2 SQN war bird.

On the base at Amberley....Mirage A3-55 and sabre A94-962 are in there also. It has canberra 210 parked outside the front.

OOoopps...my bad, it is canberra A84-125 that is out the front, not 210. Heres a recent photo of 125.

Good to hear! I hope the years of being doused with fire-fighting foam have been kind to her without causing too much corrosion.

Apparently the foam has taken its toll on her and corrosion is a big issue, will take alot of TLC to bring her back. They asked me if I wanted to volunteer on Thursdays to help out with restoring her, I am on holidays as of next Tuesday so I am thinking about going in and lending a helping hand.

Oh no, what is the modern air force coming to when a beautiful aircraft such as the Mirage is slumming in enemy territory north of the border! Would never have happened a few years ago - just shows all the old Mirage pilots have retired  |

On the subject of Amberley "wrecks and relics" I have a single report of Vampire A79-656 being seen at a Paint & Finishing School in Mar91.
Any ideas if its still around? Regards, Andy Marden |

Is the 'historical hangar' the one where they restored the Cat a few years back around 2002/2003?
