To All,

There are usually a bunch of flypasts for Australia day - so keep your eyes peeled and your cameras ready.

Here are the details for anyone who will be in the ACT on Saturday. We look forward to seeing some snaps posted in here after the event!

AIR FORCE SUPPORT FOR AUSTRALIA DAY IN THE ACT


What: Royal Australian Air Force aircraft will conduct an aerobatic display and a flypast over Canberra as part of Australia Day 2008 celebrations.

Six Roulette PC-9/A aircraft from RAAF Base East Sale and three F/A-18 Hornet aircraft from Number 77 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle will be participating.

When:

Friday 25 January

7.30 pm – A six aircraft formation from the RAAF Roulettes will conduct an aerobatic display over Federation Mall as part of the Australian of the Year awards.

Saturday 26 January

10.30am – Three F/A-18 Hornets will fly over Regatta Point (on Lake Burley Griffin) as part of a flag raising and citizenship ceremony.

Fast jet path:

The three Hornets will approach Regatta Point from the south east at an altitude of approximately 300 metres.


MEDIA NOTE:

Assistance from the media is sought in notifying Canberra region residents of these activities.

Martin,

Three F-18s did a sweep around the bay in Melbourne last year.

I saw them as I was driving to Blackrock Beach - they went past low and fast - no time to pull over and get a shot.

It was pretty spectacular though.

I haven't got any intel for this year - but fingers crossed!
